In a thrilling conclusion to Kegworth Town Cricket Club’s Fantasy Cricket League, Gareth Isaac’s team, The GazBallers, claimed the top spot with an impressive 7,166 points. Dominating from the start, Isaac’s strategic prowess and consistent performers made him the clear champion, holding off fierce competition from The King’s Trees, managed by Carl Sutton, who finished with 6,953 points, just missing out on the title.
Louise Marrable's Lou’s Lads secured a respectable third place with 5,915 points, showing grit throughout the campaign but falling short of the top two. Behind them, Triggered, led by Iain Corrie, and Adam Foster's Fozzie's Bears rounded out the top five, finishing with 5,779 and 5,660 points, respectively.
Andrew Goodwin's This year I’m batting for my average lived up to its name with a steady 5,573 points, finishing in sixth. The mid-table saw Treams International (Jonathan Wall) and Turner fanboy (George Jones) narrowly separated with 5,393 and 5,387 points, respectively.
Lower down the rankings, Seth’s Rob’s Cabbage Patch and Elliot Turner's Thursday Night Dreams broke the 5,000-point barrier but couldn’t break into the top eight. Unfortunately for Simon Glover and Mark Marrable, Bring back Dadey… and Wrong Bias found themselves in a tight battle for 11th and 12th, both unable to make an impact on the upper half of the table.
At the bottom, Alex Fitchett’s Who's Scott? and Ned Bosworth’s In your Treams struggled throughout the season, finishing 20th and 21st with 3,376 and 2,865 points, respectively. They will be hoping for a stronger showing next year after a tough campaign.
All in all, it was an exciting season full of twists and turns, with The GazBallers emerging as worthy champions in a hotly contested league.
